CHANGE OF ZONEThe Commission took this item up at 10:06 a.m. with <br />CHRYSTAL T. one person from the public in attendance. <br />YAMASAKI <br />HONUAULA, <br />NORTH KONA <br />APPLICANT: CHRYSTAL T. YAMASAKI (REZ 03-005) Î <br />Application for a Change of <br />Zone by changing the district classification from Multiple-Family Residential (RM-1) to Village <br />Commercial (CV-7.5) for 7,500 square feet of land. The property is located on the east side of <br />Kalawa Street and to the rear of the McDonald's Restaurant, Kailua-Kona, Honuaula, North <br />Kona, Hawaii, TMK: 7-5-22:40. <br />Mr. Hayashi oriented the Commission and public of the subject and surrounding properties on <br />the location map and site plan, summarized the request, and noted the Planning Director <br />recommended approval of the application with conditions. <br />The applicantÓs representative, Gregory Mooers, said the applicant presently operates out of a <br />two-story building three lots to the south and wants to build a similar structure on this propert <br />and be able to expand the Wes Thomas Associates Surveyors busine <br />There was no one from the public wishing to testify on this agen <br />It was moved by Commissioner Kubota and seconded by Commissioner Smith to send a <br />favorable recommendation to the County Council based on and incorporating the Planning <br />DirectorÓs recommendation. A roll call vote was taken and motion carried with six ayes <br />(Kubota, Smith, Thibadeau, Graham, Mina, and Fujikawa) and three absent and excused <br />(Galdones, McCall, Springer). <br />MINUTESAt 10:15 a.m., the Commission took up the following minutes: <br />April 4, 2003 Î The Commission deferred approval of the minutes <br />ADMINISTRATIVEThe following were discussed under administrative matters: <br />MATTERS <br />Next Meeting Î Mr. Hayashi noted that the next meeting is scheduled for May 23, 2003 in the <br />Hawaii County Councilroom, contrary to a notice mailed to the Commission. <br />HCPO Î Mr. Hayashi noted the Hawaii Congress of Planning OfficialÓs Conference is scheduled <br />thth <br />for October 8 through the 10 at the Westin Maui Kaanapali. <br />Agenda Format - Upon Mr. HayashiÓs inquiry, the Commission revised the format of its agenda <br />to have ÐMINUTESÑ and ÐADMINISTRATIVE MATTERSÑ placed at the end of the agenda. <br />2 <br /> <br />
