THIS MONTH'S HIGHLIGHTS <br />Firefighter of the Year <br />Captain Jon Boteilho was named Firefighter of the Year at the <br />Aloha Exchange Club of East Hawai`i's annual awards banquet on <br />March 26th. Captain Boteilho's extensive mechanical skills have <br />been put to good use at the Pdhoa station, where he meticulously <br />maintains equipment and shares his expertise with his crew. In <br />addition to his regular duties as a captain, Captain Boteilho has <br />been running the Respiratory Management Program, nicknamed <br />"Airheads," ensuring our personnel have safe equipment and <br />receive quality oxygen in high -stress situations. "The selfless <br />service and true humility displayed by Capt. Boteilho is what every <br />firefighter aspires to be," said Deputy Fire Chief Eric Moller. "His <br />work ethic and dedication to doing what is right is what makes him <br />perfect for this award." <br />�' I <br />Congresswoman Jill Tokuda Visits Central Fire Station <br />On the 16th of March, US Congress Woman, Jill Tokuda visited the <br />Central Fire Station. While talking with Union Officials associated <br />with the Hawaii Fire Fighters Association (HFFA), the subject of <br />the poor living conditions at the Central Fire Station was raised. <br />The Congress Woman requested a visit to observe the conditions <br />and see firsthand, the repairs needed. Her visit went well and she <br />indicated that she would have her staff reach out and see if there <br />was anything they could do to assist. <br />Ambulance Blessing <br />On the 23rd of March, the HFD held a blessing for five new <br />ambulances bringing the total to seven new ambulances in-service <br />this year. These ambulances are replacing units that are well past <br />their service life and will bring a more secure and safe working <br />environment to the medics who respond. <br />Pilots Meet Bambi Bucket Founder <br />Kalani Ching, Dale Allen, and Luka Dayton - <br />Smith meet Bambi Bucket founder Don Arney <br />at Station #14. Kalani notes he was honored <br />to meet the inventor of a product that he has <br />used for many years. <br />2 <br />2023 1 MARCH <br />
