OPERATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS <br />Battalion 1 East Hawaii <br />• 10/1/22, Inc#21821; Search & Rescue: Mauna Loa/Districts 4 and 50, lost <br />hiker found uninjured and declined any EMS. <br />• 10/12/22, Inc#22758; Rescue/EMS: Hwy 11, 21mm/ District 17, Ankle <br />injury in a river requiring extrication utilizing Chopper 1. <br />• 10/31/22, Inc#24241; Structure Fire: Fire in fuel <br />refinery distillery tower, Pacific Bio-Diesel in the <br />Shipman Industrial area. Dist. 5. Everyone was <br />evacuated safely and no injuries reported. <br />• 10/19/22: Training: BC1, Companies 1, 2, 3, <br />and 4 participated in Hilo Airport Triennial <br />Training Exercise. <br />Battalion 2 West Hawaii <br />• 10/24/2022 Inc#23697; Structure Fire: Old Coast Guard Rd. Dist. 15. Total <br />loss. 2 parties assisted through Red Cross. <br />Special operations: <br />Haz-Mat <br />• Initiated procurement of 15 Personal Radiation Detectors for both Hazmat <br />companies. <br />• Next Haz-Tech training class scheduled for January 23-Feb 3, 2023 <br />Ocean Safety <br />• USLA RWC Training Program Certification: Submitted <br />all requirements to USLA awaiting approval of <br />program. <br />• Working on transfers and hires for vacancies in Ocean <br />Safety. <br />• Two personnel from Kua bay were recognized by Big <br />Island Now for a recent rescue of a 70 y.o. female <br />that was found face down in the shore breaks. <br />Rescue <br />• Working with Rescue Captains to identify specialty <br />uniform standards and procurement. <br />• Initiated planning for replacement UTV for Waiakea, with <br />noticeable increase in calls for service on Mauna Loa, the <br />need for a better vehicle to access the rough terrain has <br />1 <br />become evident. Trying to secure funding. <br />
