12.31 acres of land situated in the Special Management Area. The subject parcels are <br /> located along the makai side of Hawaii Belt Road, approximately 200 feet south of its <br /> intersection with Hau Street, Portion of Wailua& Mokuhonua, South Hilo, Hawaii, <br /> TMKs: (3) 2-6-015:001 & 002. <br /> The Commission took up this item at 10:49 a.m. with eight public members in the audience. <br /> Commissioner Cross recused himself as he provided information to the applicant regarding the <br /> application and prior performed the SMA Minor and SMA Major permits for the Olson Trusts on <br /> the subject property. <br /> There were no public members in-person and two public members on Zoom provided testimony <br /> regarding this agenda item. <br /> Chairman Lin announced due to technical difficulties the Commission did not receive the <br /> necessary staff reports for this agenda item. Therefore, only public testimony, staff, and <br /> applicant's presentations were provided and deferred the decision making until the <br /> Commission's next monthly meeting in May. <br /> Action: It was moved by Commissioner Daniele and seconded by Commissioner Perrin that the <br /> application be continued to the next Commission hearing in May. A voice vote was taken, and <br /> the motion carried with all in favor. <br /> This hearing item ended at 11:19 a.m. [SEE HEARING TRANSCRIPT EXHIBIT C] <br /> Chairman Lin called a recess at 11:19 a.m. and the meeting was reconvened at 11:25 a.m. <br /> 3. KE`ALOHA LANI LLC (FORMERLY HAWAI`I BREWERY DEVELOPMENT <br /> CO.,INC.) (PL-SPP-2022-000031) <br /> Application for an amendment to Condition No. 4 of Special Permit No. 842 for a 5-Year <br /> time extension to construct and occupy on one lot, and a 10-year time extension to <br /> construct and occupy the remaining lots. Special Permit No. 842 was approved in 1993 to <br /> allow the establishment of a brewery, water, and soft drink bottling facility and related <br /> improvements on 14.5 acres of land (including the subject parcels which total 7.829 acres <br /> of land) situated within the State Land Use Agricultural District. The subject properties <br /> are located on Shipman Road, east of Highway 11 (Volcano Highway), west of Railroad <br /> Avenue, and north of Highway 130 (Kea`au-Pahoa Highway), Kea`au, Puna, Hawaii, <br /> TMKs: (3) 1-6-141:024, 027, & 028. <br /> The Commission took up this item at 11:25 a.m. with three public members in the audience. <br /> There were no in-person and Zoom testifiers for this agenda item. <br /> Action: It was moved by Commissioner De Luz and seconded by Commissioner Daniele that <br /> the application for Special Use Permit, Docket No. 2022-000031, be approved based on the <br /> Planning Director's recommendation.
