<br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />HEARING TRANSCRIPT <br />JUNE 20, 2008 <br />KONA HEIGHTS, LLC (REZ 07- <br />A regularly advertised hearing on the application of <br />000075/SMA 07-00024) <br />was called to order at 1:35 p.m. at the King Kamehameha's Kona <br />nd <br />Beach Hotel, 75-5660 Palani Road, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, with 2 Vice Chairman Alvin Rho <br />presiding. <br />PRESENT: Lani Bowman ABSENT & EXCUSED: C. Kimo Alameda <br /> Takashi Domingo Andrew Iwashita <br /> Shelly Ogata Rene’ Siracusa <br /> Alvin Rho Rodney Watanabe <br /> Rell Woodward <br /> Ivan Torigoe, Deputy Corporation Counsel <br />Christopher Yuen, Planning Director <br />Norman Hayashi, Planning Program Manager <br />Phyllis Fujimoto, Staff Planner <br />Jeff Darrow, Staff Planner <br /> <br />Maija Cottle, Staff Planner <br />Jhq`mDlkdq+Qdoqdrdms`shudneCdo`qsldmsneOtakhbVnqjr <br />And approximately 15 people from the public in attendance. <br />APPLICANT: KONA HEIGHTS, LLC (REZ 07-000075/SMA 07-000024) <br />a.Change of Zone for 11.054 acres of land from an Agricultural 5-acre (A-5a) to a <br />Single-Family Residential 7,500-square foot (RS-7.5) district. <br />b.Special Management Area Use Permit to allow the development of a 65-lot single- <br />family residential subdivision and related improvements. <br />The property is located at the south end of Naniloa Street and adjacent to the White Sands <br />Beach Estates and Keauhou View Estates Subdivisions, Kapalaalaea, North Kona, Hawaii, <br />TMK: 7-7-8:121. <br />RHO: We are on the Agenda Item 4, I believe. And the applicant is <br />Kona Heights, LLC for a Change of Zone and an SMA Use Permit. This is a continuation <br />hearing from the last Kona meeting. Just to remind the Commissioners, at the last Kona <br />meeting the State Land Use boundary for this project was passed for 11.054 acres of land <br />from Agricultural to Urban District. And today this continued hearing focuses in on <br />changing the zone from Ag 5-acre to Single-Family Residential 7,500 square feet and the <br />Special Management Area Use Permit to allow the development of a 65-unit single-family <br />residential subdivision and related improvements.
