<br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />HEARING TRANSCRIPT <br />JULY 2, 2004 <br />A regularly advertised hearing on the application of ISHIMARU, LLC (SPP 04-009) was <br />called to order at 2:10 p.m. in the County Building, Councilroom - Room 201, 25 Aupuni <br />Street, Hilo, Hawaii, with Second Vice-Chairman Hannah Springer presiding. <br />PRESENT:Hannah Springer ABSENT & EXCUSED: Fred Galdones <br />C. Kimo AlamedaEarl Fujikawa <br />Bill GrahamBill Thibadeau <br />Jeffrey McCall <br />Francis Smith <br />Ivan Torigoe, Deputy Corporation Counsel <br />Christopher J. Yuen, Planning Director <br />Norman Hayashi, Planning Program Manager <br />PhyllisFujimoto,StaffPlanner <br />Jeff Darrow, Staff Planner <br />Kelly Gomes representing Ex-officio Member Bruce McClure <br />And approximately 12 people from the public in attendance. <br />APPLICANT: ISHIMARU, LLC (SPP 04-009) <br />Special Permit to allow the establishment of a quarry and related uses, including a <br />crushing, concrete batching, and asphalt concrete plant on approximately 12 acres of land <br />situated within the State Land Use Agricultural district. The property is located <br />approximately 4,000 feet makai of the Hawaii Belt Highway (State Highway 11), in the <br />vicinity of Naalehu Village, Kahilipali Iki, Ka'u, Hawaii, TMK: 9-5-7: portion of 29. <br />SPRINGER:Id like to call this meeting of the Hawaii County Planning <br />Commission back to order. We are now on Agenda Item 3. The Applicant is Ishimaru, <br />LLC (SPP 04-009). This is a Special Permit to allow the establishment of a quarry and <br />related uses, including a crushing, concrete batching and asphalt concrete plant on <br />approximately 12 acres of land situated within the State Land Use Agricultural district. <br />The property is located approximately 4,000 feet makai of the Hawaii Belt Highway <br />(State Highway 11), in the vicinity of Naalehu Village, Kahilipali Iki, Ka u, Hawaii, <br />TMK: 9-5-7:portion of 29. Mr. Hayashi? <br />HAYASHI:Thank you, Madam Chair. According to the location map, the <br />subject property is indicated by this red dot. It is situated approximately 4,000 feet from <br />the Hawaii Belt Highway, which would run, this would be towards the Hilo direction, <br />and this would be towards Kona.
