Duane stated that he will pass on the information to Bill <br />Hansen who is in charge of this area. Gerald stated that he will get Bill's contact <br />information and send it out to the committee. <br />V. STATE <br />DOH HEER — Isaiah reported that Sept. 16 there was a vessel that grounded in west <br />Hawaii of which 70 gallons of fuel needed to be removed along with marine batteries. <br />He also mentioned the acid spill that Chief Okinaka had reported on earlier. Isaiah <br />also reported that at the Hilo Airport at the FAA building, there was a petroleum <br />contamination for their PV system. Tom added some information in regards to the <br />airport PV incident and reiterated to the contractor on how to prevent such future <br />occurrences. At Kalama Pi'i school, there was some lead contamination in the paint <br />that went into the soil. DOH had a dilemma on whether to close the school due to <br />this contamination. DOH HEER is also doing their Hazwoper recert. training. <br />Finally, their office manager position was just filled. The new program manager for <br />the HEER office is Grace Simmons. <br />DOE — Orasa reported that the complex is bringing in 40-foot containers to collect <br />hazardous waste and e-waste. Will also meet with the state regarding the Mauna Loa <br />eruption. Orasa also had a question on the protocol for bomb threat. Who would <br />actually give the all clear? Chief Burian clarified that HPD will be the lead but the <br />property owner will need to work with them. He stated that HPF has their own bomb <br />squad with a robot to respond. <br />DOH — Eric stated that USGS may have some information to Jordan. He sent Jordan <br />their contact information. <br />VI. OLD BUSINESS <br />Chemical Safety Day — Gerald reminded Chief Okinaka to submit the reports from <br />those HFD members who attended the past Chemical Safety Day training on Oahu. <br />This is a requirement for all LEPC funded training. Chief Okinaka said that he is <br />waiting for one more report. <br />HFD Canberra Purchase — Gerald spoke about the allocation from the LEPC for the <br />purchase of radiological monitors for HFD hazmat team. He mentioned that Adam <br />Teekel from HEER wanted to make sure that the ones purchased will be compatible <br />with the DOH State Rad team for calibration purposes. Chief Okinaka stated that he <br />confirmed with them to ensure that it will be compatible. <br />VIL NEW BUSINESS <br />HFD Request — Chief Okinaka stated that he may be requesting some PTT units for <br />the hazmat team at our next meeting. This is for better communication at the scene. <br />He also stated that he will look into the supplied air unit to see if it needs replacing. <br />VIIL NEXT MEETING — Next HSERC meeting in on December 16, 2022. Next LEPC <br />meeting is scheduled for February 16, 2022. CD will check on the room availability. <br />IX. Adjournment - Meeting adjourned at 9:53am <br />
