Hawaii Police Commission <br />Regular Session Minutes <br />April 21, 2023 <br />Page 5 <br />They're currently in the process of building a website. URL was purchased <br />"joinhawaiipolice.com" for recruitment info and videos. <br />Chief Moszkowicz reported that according to the mayor, the three salary commission <br />vacancies have all received nominations, and nominees are pending County Council <br />approval. <br />• Commendations: Chief Moszkowicz reported receiving five commendations, involving <br />five personnel since the last Police Commission meeting in recognition of outstanding <br />services. <br />Commissioner Lassiter expressed her gratitude and stated officers did a great job <br />organizing the traffic at the parade last Saturday. <br />Personnel: Chief Moszkowicz reported effective April 1, 2023, they promoted one major <br />and two captains. Major Thomas Shopay is assigned to Technical Services, this was <br />Major Mahuna's former position before he transferred to Area I. Captain Aurelio is <br />assigned to the Criminal Intelligence Unit and the Office of Professional Standards. <br />Captain Prudencio, former CALEA Accreditation Manager is now assigned to Criminal <br />Investigations, Area II. There will be a recognition ceremony on Wednesday, at 5:30 <br />p.m., at the conference center. <br />Chief Moszkowicz reported they were able to go through the 25 sergeant applicants <br />and 17 lieutenant applicants in a two -week period. Those interviews and the results of <br />that process were submitted to him on Monday and by Tuesday, they selected six <br />lieutenants, three sergeants, and three detectives who will be promoted on May 1St <br />Two civilians were promoted in the last three months and two certificates of merit <br />awardees will be recognized at the ceremony as well. Soon -to -be Lieutenants: Acob, <br />who will be assigned to the records division, Carvalho assigned to SRT, Fernando <br />assigned to Area I Criminal Investigations, Hardie assigned to Area II Criminal <br />Investigations, Jackson and Lewis will be assigned to Kona Patrol. Soon -to -be <br />Sergeants: Antonio assigned to North Kohala Patrol, Fukumoto assigned to Puna <br />Patrol, and Omaya is an officer in the admin section and will remain in admin. Soon -to - <br />be detectives: Melendez assigned to Area II CIS, Nacino assigned to Area II JAS, and <br />Pa was assigned to Area II Criminal Investigations. These promotions are effective May <br />1 St <br />Chief Moszkowicz reported on other department activities: <br />➢ March 23rd "Learn 2 Live" presentation at Pahoa and Waiakea high schools. <br />➢ National Public Telecom municators Week was last week. <br />➢ March 241", he went on a ride along with Puna Patrol on third watch. <br />➢ March 31St panel presentation at the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and <br />Industry in Hawaii. <br />
