West Hawaii Class Information <br />• Classes will be CLOSED on August 18, 2023 (Admissions Day) and September 4, 2023 <br />(Labor Day.) <br />• Age: Must be 55 years of age or older to participate. <br />• Enrollment: Registration will be closed when class limit is met. Class size is dependent on <br />room size and student/teacher ratio. An Elderly Activities Division Kupuna Card is needed to <br />participate in activities. If you do not have a Kupuna Card please contact the Elderly Activities <br />Division at (808) 323-4320 or (808) 323-4340 to schedule an appointment or drop -in at the West <br />Hawaii Civic Center, Parks & Recreation, Elderly Activities Division (Building B, Ground floor) <br />anytime Monday - Friday between 1:30pm-3:30pm. <br />• Class registration: Registration will start the first day of class. First come, first serve. Please <br />no registration by phone. Pre -registration for students currently enrolled in the course will be <br />on the last day of class in the quarter. <br />• Class costs: Participants will be required to pay a registration fee per class. The fee will be <br />$10.00 for the entire session whether it's 8, 9, or 10 classes and will be collected at the first <br />and second class. Classes that are 2 hours or more the registration fee will be $20 per class. <br />The monies collected will be used to support all programs and ERS activities. No refunds after <br />the second class. Please pay in class. If paying with cash please bring exact change. If paying <br />by check please make checks payable to COUNTY DIRECTOR OF FINANCE. Credit cards not <br />accepted. <br />• Please refrain from wearing strong perfumes or colognes due to sensitivity of others. <br />*Ukulele (Beginner & Intermediate) classes - A ukulele, music stand, and pen/pencil is required. <br />*All line dancing classes - Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. <br />*All Improver (Beginner Plus) Line Dancing classes - This is not an entry level class. Previous line <br />dancing experience is required. <br />*Pencil drawing - A sketchbook, any size, and pencils. All types welcome from #2, colored pencils, <br />watercolor pencils and any others you have already. <br />*Yoga Stretch - Wear comfortable clothes. Yoga mat is required. <br />*Sewing for Fun - Join the Sewing for Fun group for weekly creative fun. Participants are invited to <br />bring their own sewing projects or learn to make something new. It's your choice! All sewing levels <br />are welcome. Please bring basic sewing supplies including both fabric and paper scissors, pins/clips, <br />seam ripper, marking tools, seam gauge, measuring tape and your sewing machine. Cutting and <br />ironing stations will be available as well as project patterns for in class use. <br />*Basic drawing - Pencil and blank white paper (example: Xerox paper) <br />*Intro/Beginner Hula - Aloha, you will learn basic hula steps, hand motions and a hula dance. Wear <br />comfortable clothes and bring your own water. A sarong/pareo/pa'u skirt are welcome but not <br />required. <br />*All pickle ball classes - A pickle ball paddle is required. Wear comfortable clothes, shoes and bring <br />water to class. This is not an instructional type of class. You must know how to play. <br />Services and opportunities to participate in Elderly Recreation programs are provided to persons 55 years or older without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, <br />disability or religion.
