<br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I <br />HEARING TRANSCRIPT <br />AUGUST 25, 2006 <br />PLANNING DIRECTOR’S PROPOSED <br />A regularly advertised hearing on the <br />AMENDMENT TO CHAPTER 25, ZONING CODE <br /> was called to order at 3:55 p.m. at the <br />King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel, 75-5660 Palani Road, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii with <br />Chairman C. Yuen, Planning Director <br />Norman Hayashi, Planning Program Manager <br />Phyllis Fujimoto, Staff Planner <br />Jeff Darrow, Staff Planner <br />And approximately 26 people from the public in attendance. <br />INITIATOR: PLANNING DIRECTOR <br />Amendment to Chapter 25 (Zoning Code), Article 1, Section 25-1-5(b) of the Hawaii County <br />Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended), by amending the definition of “family” to read as <br />follows: <br />“Family” means an individual or two or more persons related by blood, state-sanctioned <br />adoption, foster parentage, guardianship or marriage, or a group of not more than five <br />unrelated persons (excluding servants), occupying a dwelling unit. The term includes <br />individuals in larger group living situations described as group living facilities and family <br />child care homes[.] and a group of not more than eight unrelated persons, plus any <br />program staff, living in a facility licensed by the department of health. <br />ALAMEDA:So moving on to Agenda Item No. 5, the Planning Director’s amendment. <br />Staff? <br />DARROW:Thank you, Mr. Chairman. <br />ALAMEDA:Okay.
