Hawaii State Plan Consistency <br /> The Hawaii State Plan, HRS Chapter 226 establishes a set of goals, objectives and <br /> policies to serve as long-range guidelines for the growth and development of the <br /> State. The following sections of the Hawaii State Plan contain guidelines that are <br /> relevant to the Project. <br /> Section 226-4. State goals. <br /> Goal: <br /> • Physical,social,and economic well-being,for individuals and families in Hawaii, <br /> that nourishes a sense of community responsibility,of caring and of participation in <br /> community life. <br /> Section 226-6. Objective and policies for the economy—In general. <br /> Objective: <br /> • Increased and diversified employment opportunities to achieve full employment, <br /> increased income and choice, and improved living standards for Hawaii's people. <br /> Policies: <br /> • Stimulate the development and expansion of economic activities which will benefit <br /> area with substantial or expected employment problems. <br /> Encourage business that have favorable financial multiplier effects within Hawaii's <br /> economy. <br /> Section 226-20. Objectives and policies for socio-cultural advancement- health. <br /> Objectives: <br /> • Fulfillment of basic individual health needs of the general public. <br /> • Elimination of health disparities by identifying and addressing social determinants of <br /> health. <br /> Policies: <br /> • Provide adequate and accessible services and facilities for prevention and treatment <br /> of physical and mental health problems,including substance abuse. <br /> • Encourage improved cooperation among public and private sectors in the provision <br /> of health care to accommodate the total health needs of individuals throughout the <br /> State. <br /> • Foster an awareness of the need for personal health maintenance and preventive <br /> health care through education and other measures. <br /> • Provide programs, services and activities that ensure environmentally healthful and <br /> sanitary conditions. <br /> --------------------------------------------------------------___Page 14 of 38 <br />
