Please take into consideration the long term creation of
Waimea into a resident friendly, low traffic walkable
town. Placing another building on the main highway far
out of the town center does not serve. Currently the last
time I tried to walk from near this location in to town the
barely existent sidewalk was flooded with a river. This
building will not increase Waimea's beauty but rather
cause traffic problems, and even worse continue Turing
this area into what could be lovely farms and homes into
more industrial zone. It's important to carefully plan for
Waimea's future so as not to ruin it. In addition it
appears that there is a stream that runs through here.
Please make sure to recognize the importance of
protecting clean waterways, even seasonal was. It's a
shame the way the back of KTA shopping center sits
right on the river. Th stream could have been protected
with space and an area to sit and picnic. Thank you for

It's disheartening and embarrassing to hear situations
like this one. It's becoming more and more common
where development of commercial and residential
buildings is being allowed and takes priority over less
lucrative uses. Apparently, money and some concept of
"progress" must be the priority. The so-called benefits of
such plans like this one and many others will likely not
benefit long-time residents. In my opinion, it is extremely
embarrassing to see how this Commission would allow
the development of these plans.

I work in Waimea and it's just the right amount of activity
in town that we can endure the rush hour traffick. I have
to drive 45 minutes to and fro work because hosibg is
unaffordable in Waimea, so affordable housing for
hawaii kama'aina should be considered priority. When I
say kama'aina I mean good people born here, who can
barely afford to get by, who want options to experience
autonomy from unhealthy family situations they are
forced to live in due to costs. These people like myself
who don't identify as American and have no where to
move upon loss of affordability. And yes, of course,
Hawaiians as priority. But this affordable Housing for
anyone who moved here and lived here after youth
should not be reassessed. It should not go to anyone
who moved here and now has a hawaii state id. 'A'ole.

prime agricultural lands that are so hard to come by in
the island. These are lands that could do more for the
existing town and it's people than this proposed
development.

I don't live in Hawaii but I did as a young child. After
returning to the island after in my teen years and now in
my 40's I have seen all the changes and it saddens me.
The island is no longer for the people but for the
wealthy. The island is losing its spirit and becoming a
playground for the wealthy. The commercialization of the
island needs to stop. We should be teaching
preservation of the land not destroying it. If it weren't for
my time on the island as a young child I don't feel I
would have the same respect of land or nature. Which is
what we should still be teaching young children. Not
