The purpose of this document is to provide <br />relevant project information for the Miloli`i Beach Park project for the Shoreline Setback <br />Variance (SSV) application. Included in this letter are responses to the SSV Permit Application <br />requirement (item 93 through 98) for anticipated impacts of the project. A filing fee of $500 has <br />been paid via EPIC (item 91) and the signed application is also in EPIC (item 92). A Final <br />Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact (FEA/FONSI) and other <br />requested documents are being uploaded to the online Electronic Processing and Information <br />Center (EPIC) for additional information and reference. <br />Item 93: A written narrative, including the following background information (A-N) on the subject <br />property. <br />A. A Final Environmental Assessment consistent with the requirements of Chapter 343, <br />HRS was submitted to the Office of Planning and Sustainable Development, <br />Environmental Review Program on January 24, 2023 for publication on February 8, 2023 <br />in The Environmental Notice. This document is uploaded into EPIC. <br />B. The proposed project includes: <br />• replacement of the existing pavilion (with storage and electrical room) with <br />proper permits to meet current ADA standards; <br />• replacement of the comfort station to meet current ADA standards; <br />• replacement of the non -potable water storage and booster pump station for the <br />new comfort station; <br />• improvement of the parking lot to be ADA accessible; <br />• improvement of the walkways connecting the comfort station with the parking <br />area and park facilities to be ADA accessible; <br />• reconstruction and resurfacing of the basketball/volleyball courts enclosed within <br />a surrounding chain link fence; <br />• construction of a new playground and a surrounding chain link fence; <br />designation of a boat turnaround area; and, <br />• installation of vehicular barriers to prevent unauthorized vehicles from accessing <br />the shoreline and the pavilion. <br />The proposed action includes demolishing both the existing pavilion and comfort station. <br />The pavilion use would remain under community control. Parking would include 16 total <br />stalls, including 12 standard stalls and 4 ADA accessible stalls (including 1 van <br />accessible stall). A boat turnaround area adjacent to the pavilion would be paved with <br />"No Parking" signage. <br />
