Hawaii Police Commission <br /> Meeting Agenda <br /> August 31, 2023 <br /> Page 2 <br /> EXECUTIVE SESSION (CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC) <br /> The commission will meet in executive session to consider charges against officers or <br /> employees of the police department, where matters affecting privacy will be involved; to <br /> consider sensitive matters related to public safety, and may consult with the board's <br /> attorney on questions and issues pertaining to the commission's powers, duties, privileges, <br /> immunities, and liabilities pursuant to HRS 92-5 (a)(2)(4)(6) and the Hawaii County Charter <br /> Section 13-20 (b). <br /> CONSIDERATION AND INVESTIGATION OF COMPLAINTS <br /> • HPC 23-17: Complainant alleges her theft report wasn't taken seriously. <br /> • HPC 23-19: Complainant alleges the officer failed to provide her with proper assistance <br /> and failed to return her phone calls. <br /> • HPC 23-20: Complainant alleges the officer was overbearing towards her minor child <br /> and officers failed to perform their duties as required. <br /> • HPC 23-25: During a traffic stop, the officer was allegedly unprofessional, <br /> confrontational, and used profane language. <br /> • HPC 23-26: Complainant alleges the officer was rude and unprofessional, and had their <br /> vehicle unjustly towed under Aliyah's Law. <br /> • HPC 23-28: Complainant alleges that the traffic stop was unjustified. The officer was <br /> hostile and wrongfully accused him of speeding. <br /> • Review of complaints in the non-acceptance category. <br /> STATUS REPORT OF REFERRED AND EXTERNAL COMPLAINTS <br /> UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br /> Debriefing on the Chief selection process.
