This information can also be requested by sending an email to staff <br />planner, Rosalind Newlon at Rosalind.Newlonghawaiicouniy.gov. <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br />Minutes of the meeting of September 12, 2023. <br />STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC ON AGENDA ITEMS <br />Members of the public may provide public testimony regarding any agenda item now or at <br />the time the agenda item is called to order. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />1. PL-KVD-2023-000045: The applicant, James Hayes, of Planning Solutions, Inc., is <br />requesting design review of a request to extend its lattice tower on the subject site. The <br />lattice tower supports important communication equipment that enables Hawaiian <br />Electric to efficiently operate the island -wide electrical grid. The existing tower is 80- <br />feet tall with a proposal to extend the tower to 100-feet tall. No changes proposed to the <br />associated equipment buildings at the base of the tower. <br />Applicant: James Hayes, of Planning Solutions, Inc. <br />Landowner: Hawaii Electric Light Company, Inc. <br />TMK: (3) 7-4-010:022 <br />Location: 74-5519 Kaiwi Street, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740 <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS <br />Next meeting is tentatively scheduled for October 24, 2023. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />Submitting Testimony A person desiring to submit written testimony shall indicate <br />her/his name; address; and whether the testimony is on her/his behalf or as a representative of an <br />organization or individual. If testimony is being submitted on behalf of an organization, <br />documentation showing membership ratification should accompany the testimony. Written <br />testimony may be submitted to the Kailua Village Design Commission by email at <br />planning�a,hawaiicountygov or by mail or in person at the Planning Department office addresses <br />in Kona or Hilo listed below under Board Packet, and is requested by 4:30 p.m., two business <br />days prior to the meeting, to allow for time for review and consideration by the Commissioners. <br />Notice to Lobbyists: If you are a lobbyist, you must register with the Hawaii County <br />Clerk within five days of becoming a lobbyist {Article 15, Section 2-91.3(b), Hawaii County <br />Code}. A lobbyist means "any individual engaged for pay or other consideration who spends <br />more than five hours in any month or $275 in any six-month period for the purpose of attempting <br />to influence legislative or administrative action by communicating or urging others to <br />communicate with public officials." {Article 15, Section 2-91.3(a)(6), Hawaii County Code} <br />Registration forms and expenditure report documents are available at the Office of the County <br />Clerk, 25 Aupuni Street, Room 1402, Hilo, Hawaii 96720. <br />4 <br />
