A list of tentative appeal hearing dates were distributed to the Board. <br />The dates selected are as follows: <br />Hilo <br />Kona <br />October <br />26-27, <br />3-4 <br />November <br />Cct31-Nov1, 7 <br />December <br />7-8 <br />Hilo hearings will be held at the Aupuni Center Conference Room at the Aupuni Center. Kona hearings will be <br />held in the Community Hale at the West Hawaii Civic Center. With the current number of active appeals <br />based in the Hilo area, the Board was informed those cases may close out in one, two-day set of hearings. <br />With the current number of active cases in the Kona area, that may require two, two-day sets of hearings. <br />A discussion took place between the Board members, Deputy Corporation Counsel & the Real property tax <br />administration of each party's availability on the hearing dates provided. <br />During this time, Board Member Ms. Blancett-Maddock, became present at the meeting. <br />Mr. Jo did provide perspective as to why although we are currently in the month of August, the appeal <br />hearing dates at earliest would not be available until the end of September. The Real Property Tax office <br />serves certified notices to the appellants 30 days prior to the date of their hearing, to provide sufficient <br />amount of time. <br />Motion: Mr. Tokuuke moved to accept the changes to the 2023 Appeal Hearing dates, eliminating <br />September 26-29, October 10-11, 17-18 and November 7-8. Seconded by Mr. Sullivan. A call for discussion <br />was made.
