He has directed multidisciplinary teams around the country and has <br /> served as the project director and prime author on over 200 plans for cities, <br /> towns, neighborhoods, and corridors. He has led several virtual charrettes <br /> across the U.S. since the appearance of COVID and the first virtual charrette <br /> in Missoula, Montana in March of 2020 according to the National Charrette <br /> Institute. <br /> From the first plan he worked on for the Tarautao Islands of Thailand,to the <br /> multiple plans he authored in Coastal Louisiana, Southeast Florida, and the <br /> American Southwest,Jason's work has focused on social, economic,and <br /> i climate change resilience. Jason authored the book:The Climate Planner: <br /> Overcoming Pushback Against Local Mitigation and Adaptation Plans <br /> (Routledge 2021).Jason's work is featured in numerous planning texts such <br /> EDUCATION as Sustainable Urbanism (2007), Form-Based Codes (2008), and Street <br /> Master of Community Planning (MCP) Design (2014) and he has been interviewed by the New York Times, Planning <br /> Bachelor of Arts in English (BA) Magazine,and National Public Radio. <br /> University of Rhode Island <br /> South Kingston, Rhode Island SELECTED PROJECTS <br /> Missoula Downtown Master Plan, Missoula, Montana <br /> PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE The Master Plan Update serves as a guide for decisions over the next 10 <br /> Principal Town Planner years impacting Missoula's historic downtown and adjoining neighborhoods, <br /> 2006 to Present including modifications to land use and planning regulations, public and <br /> Dover, Kohl &Partners private investment decisions, and prioritization for allocation of municipal and <br /> Coral Gables, Florida community resources. Jason served as project manager for the project. <br /> AFFILIATIONS Plan NoBe&CRA Plan, Miami Beach, Florida <br /> American Institute of Certified Jason King led a multi-disciplinary team to create a Master Plan for the North <br /> Planners Certified Member(AICP) Beach District of Miami Beach and recommend an economic and revitalization <br /> Congress for the New Urbanism strategy. The Plan establishes priorities for public sector action while <br /> Accredited Member(CNU-a) simultaneously providing direction for complementary private-sector decisions. <br /> PUBLICATIONS This plan led to the creation and implementation of a CRA for the North Beach <br /> The Climate Planner(2021) area to assist in implementation. <br /> Jason King SEVEN50,The Prosperity Plan for Southeast Florida <br /> Sustainable Urbanism (2007) Seven50 is the plan for the seven counties of Southeast Florida for the next fifty <br /> Doug Farr, contr.Jason King years. The region includes 121 municipalities and over six million people. Plan <br /> creation involved over 5,000 people participating in a series of regional summits <br /> SELECTED LECTURES and local workshops and over one million people via an interactive website with <br /> Miami Smart City Expo (2021) online weekly polls, a scenario modeler, social media, discussion forums, and a <br /> "The Climate Planner" regional data warehouse. Jason led a fifteen-firm, multidisciplinary consultant <br /> team as it worked closely with local universities and regional planning councils, <br /> CNU Park Bench ( the Florida Department of Transportation,and a 200-member public and private <br /> "Next Steps in Climate Plannringing"" partnership. Jason was principal author of the Seven50 Prosperity Report. <br /> CNU Park Bench (2020) Seven50 was funded by the US Office of Sustainable Housing and Communities <br /> "Planning for Climate Migration" and was featured on National Public Radio and in The New York Times. <br /> Rail Volution Pre-Conference(2020) El Paso Comprehensive Plan, El Paso,Texas <br /> "Miami's Potential and Challenges for Jason headed the Plan El Paso planning initiative which involved multiple <br /> the Future" charrettes and a multi-disciplinary team which worked with residents, <br /> Eco El Paso 121h Annual Conference stakeholders,and officials from the City,state and Fort Bliss Army Base,to create <br /> (2019): "El Paso,Texas: 2050" the El Paso's overarching policy document.
