A couple of sink holes developed near the wall,and it became a matter of urgency to repair it. We hired a very good contractor,who recommended Thorne Abbott. Coastal Planners,ITC. to assist us with the process of obtaining permits from the Maui Planning Board. Thorne Abbott is very professional and extremely knowledgeable about the requirements that the Maui Planning Board insists on,in order to obtain the appropriate permits. The Maui planning board is very strict with their requirements. Thorne understands them, and knows we had to comply with all their requests,which are many. Thorne's background and experience is fantastic. He really anticipates,follows up with details,and explains the process very well. Thorne is very diligent about the nuances that must be followed,the requirements for documentation,appropriate drawings and renditions that the planning board needs, including Grading Permits, Site Plans and submitting many Permit Applications such as SM2-Special Management and SSA-Shoreline Setback. Thorne worked very closely with our Contractor and Structural Engineer,obtaining many documents,very specific renditions of plans for Repair, plus photographs and many more requirements of the Maui Planning Board. Thorne notified the Nohonani BOD frequently with printed documentation and details of what had been accomplished,what still needed to be done,answering our questions and concerns, all in a very timely matter. As President of the BOD,I speak for all the Board members,and our Managing Agent's Representative. Thorne Abbott is the best person you could hire,no matter how challenging your situation. He is the man who gets things done correctly. We are very grateful we hired him.
