Public outdoor recreation and education, including access to beaches and <br />mountains: <br />• Provide a wide variety of recreational opportunities for the residents and visitors of the <br />County. <br />• Maintain the natural beauty of recreation areas. <br />• Provide a diversity of environments for active and passive pursuits. <br />B. Preservation of historic or culturally important land areas and sites: <br />• Protect, restore, and enhance the sites, buildings, and objects of significant historical <br />and cultural importance to Hawaii. <br />• Appropriate access to significant historic sites, buildings, and objects of public interest <br />could be made available. <br />• Possesses unusual richness and diversity of culturally important archeological features. <br />C. Protection of natural resources, significant habitat or ecosystems, including buffer <br />ones: <br />• Protect and conserve the natural resources from undue exploitation, encroachment and <br />damage. <br />• Protect and promote the prudent use of Hawaii's unique, fragile, and significant <br />environmental and natural resources. <br />• Protect rare or endangered species and habitats native to Hawaii. <br />• Provides an ecological balance between the quality of life for residents and visitors <br />and sustainability of natural resources. <br />• Maintain and, if feasible, improve the existing environmental quality of the island. <br />D. Protection of forests, beaches, coastal areas, natural beauty, and agricultural lands: <br />• Protect, preserve, and enhance the quality of areas endowed with natural beauty, <br />including the quality of coastal scenic resources. <br />• Posesses unusual richness and diversity of biological features. <br />• Protect scenic vistas and view planes from becoming obstructed. <br />• Maximize opportunities for present and future generations to appreciate and enjoy <br />natural and scenic beauty. <br />• Identify, protect, and maintain important agricultural lands on the island of Hawaii. <br />• Preserve the agricultural character of the island. <br />E.
