Walua Partners, LLC.: Special Management Area Use Permit Application <br /> residential developments in the immediate and surrounding area. Mitigative measures would <br /> be employed to protect environmentally sensitive areas. All regulatory requirements for <br /> construction will be complied with. <br /> 3. Historical Site Element: <br /> Goals <br /> • Protect and enhance the sites, buildings, and objects of significant and <br /> cultural importance to Hawaii. <br /> • Access to significant historic sites, buildings, and objects of public interest <br /> should be made available. <br /> Policies <br /> • Agencies and organizations, either public or private, pursuing knowledge <br /> about historic sites should keep the public apprised of projects. <br /> • The County of Hawaii shall require both public and private developers to <br /> provide a historical survey prior to the clearing or development of land <br /> when there are indications that the land under consideration has <br /> historical significance. <br /> • Public access to significant historic sites and objects shall be acquired. <br /> • The County of Hawaii shall encourage the restoration of significant <br /> historic sites on private lands. <br /> • Signs explaining historic sites, buildings, and objects shall be in keeping <br /> with the character of the area or the cultural aspects of the feature. <br /> The site was surveyed by Dr. Paul Rosendahl and the subsequent data recovery was carried out <br /> the Dr. Alan Haun. Their work has been reviewed and approved by the State Historic <br /> Preservation Division. The archaeological site on the subject property will not be disturbed as <br /> the agreed buffers will be in place. No archaeological features will be impacted by the proposed <br /> residential buildings. See the exhibits for the archaeological reports. <br /> 4.
