ALAMEDA:Mr. Darrow? You have any thoughts on that? <br />DARROW:Thank you Mr. Chairman. Commissioner Siracusa in the original <br />application we received a comment from the Department of Environmental Management if I <br />could refer to it. Let me see what exhibit it is. <br />SIRACUSA:Did that have to do with whether there was a sewer connection or not? <br />DARROW:Yes. <br />SIRACUSA:Is that the one? <br />DARROW:This would be Exhibit E on your background report. And within that <br />exhibit, wastewater comments stated that there was no County sewer plan for this area. The <br />applicant submitted information to the contrary showing that there actually is sewer fronting the <br />project area. I was asked by the Planning Director to contact Department of Environmental <br />Managementtofindout,toclarifyiftherewasorwasnotsewerinthisarea.IspoketoPeter <br />Boucher who confirmed that there was sewer in this area. I asked if he could submit revised <br />comments for the record and he had said that he was just about to leave on a lengthy trip and <br />could not. So, I asked him specifically for wording for a condition and he had basically stated <br />this condition per himself. And then I had also asked are you sure Department of, I mean, City <br />and County of Honolulu and he said yes. He didnt go into detail as to the reason for that but he <br />did confirm that that was the language that he did want. <br />SIRACUSA:Could you clarify for me who this Peter Boucher is? <br />DARROW:Hes the, I believe the Director of the Wastewater Division, is that correct, <br />Chris? <br />YUEN:Of the division yes. <br />DARROW:Yes. <br />SIRACUSA:So over here we do not know when hes referring to this, these design <br />standards whether theyre more or less stringent than our own County ones. Can the Director <br />clue us in on that? <br />YUEN:I strongly suspect that the reason they refer to the City and County <br />standards is that we dont have a separate County of Hawaii Standard. If they did Im sure they <br />would refer to County of Hawaii. <br />SIRACUSA:Thank you. <br />YUEN:I dont know that for a fact but Im, all the reading between the lines leads <br />me to that conclusion. <br />EXHIBIT B <br />8 <br /> <br />
