<br />LEEWARD PLANNING COMMISSION <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I <br />HEARING TRANSCRIPT <br />DECEMBER 15, 2010 <br />PARKER RANCH (SPP 10-108) <br />An advertised status hearing on the application of was called to <br />order at 12:01 p.m. in the King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel, Ballroom I, 75-5660 Palani <br />Road, Kailua-Kona, Hawai‘i, with Chairman Frederic Housel presiding. <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Frederic Housel, Lani Bowman, Geraldine Giffin, Thomas <br />Hickcox, Wayne Iokepa and Richard Nelson <br />EXCUSED: Brandi Beaudet <br />STAFF PRESENT: Brandon Gonzalez (Deputy Corporation Counsel), BJ Leithead Todd <br />(Planning Director), Daryn Arai (Planning Program Manager) and Jeff Darrow (Staff <br />And seven people from the public in attendance. <br />APPLICANT: PARKER RANCH (SPP 10-108) <br />Pre-hearing/status hearing and action meeting regarding application for a Special Permit to allow <br />for the establishment of light industrial and commercial office uses within existing structures and <br />the use of an existing rodeo/equestrian facility for special events, all of which are situated on a total <br />of approximately 14.897 acres at the Parker Ranch headquarters and rodeo/equestrian facility <br />complex in Waimea. The project site is situated approximately 4,300 feet north of the Waimea- <br />Kohala Airport on the east side of the Mmalahoa Highway, Waikoloa and Pu‘ukapu, South <br />Kohala, TMK: 6-7-001: portion of 25 and 6-7-002: portion of 17. <br />HOUSEL: We’ve got to take one more item before we break for lunch, and that’s on the <br />addendum, which is the, it’s No. 5, which is Parker Ranch. This is a pre-hearing for a contested <br />case for a special permit for the establishment of light industrial and commercial office within the <br />existing structures and the use of existing rodeo/equestrian facility for special events. Do we need <br />to have another presentation to -. <br />GIFFIN: No, but you should take note, I think, that Mr. Beaudet is gone. <br />HOUSEL: Right, I will, I will. Okay. Does anyone want to see the plan? <br />LEITHEAD TODD: I think we have a letter to continue. <br />HOUSEL: Right. Does anyone want to see the presentation? Okay, everybody is familiar with it, <br />okay. Okay, we save time here, so hopefully, okay. Now, I want to make note, as Commissioner <br />Giffin reminded me, Commissioner Beaudet has excused himself from this issue. So we will –I <br />don’t think there is anyone signed up to testify –so we will have the applicant’s representative <br />speak to us. Could you raise your right hand, please?
