Ive submitted a written testimony. But lets go <br />through it and if you have any questions, Id be glad to answer. Im here representing the <br />Hamakua County Farm Bureau, to explain to you our position on the proposed Wellness <br />Center Retreat project at Kapulena, Hamakua, Hawai i. <br />The proposed project is located in an existing macadmia nut orchard. However, the <br />prime use, the primary use of the land as proposed by the Applicant is contrary to the <br />criteria listed under Planning Commission Rule 6.3(b)(5)(F and G). <br />The Applicants primary objective for the use of the land is to build a Wellness Retreat <br />Center, and there is no mention in the Special Permit Application Request that the 12.157 <br />acres will be maintained in agricultural use, which is a blatant disregard of Criterion 5(F) <br />that states The proposed use will not substantially alter or change the essential character <br />of the land and the present use. Criterion 5(G) states that the request will not be <br />contrary to the General Plan and official Community Development Plan and other <br />documents such as the Design Plans. Most of the Hamakua Coast is designated <br />17 <br /> <br />
