Walua Partners, LLC.: Special Management Area Use Permit Application <br /> • Protect, preserve, and enhance the quality of areas endowed with <br /> natural beauty, including the quality of coastal scenic resources. <br /> • Protect scenic vistas and view planes from becoming obstructed. <br /> • Maximize opportunities for present and future generations to appreciate <br /> and enjoy natural and scenic beauty. <br /> Policies <br /> • Increase public pedestrian access opportunities to scenic places and <br /> vistas. <br /> The scenic and natural beauty of Hawaii is recognized as an irreplaceable asset, which needs to <br /> be protected. A goal of the Hawaii County General Plan is to preserve the quality of the coastal <br /> scenic resources and to protect scenic vistas and view planes from being obstructed. A Visual <br /> Impact Assessment was prepared for this project. Please see the visual analysis in the exhibits <br /> for a more thorough discussion of visual impacts. <br /> 6. Natural Resources and Shoreline Element: <br /> Goals <br /> • Protect and conserve the natural resources of the County of Hawaii from <br /> undue exploitation, encroachment, and damage. <br /> • Provide opportunities for the public to fulfill recreational, economic, and <br /> educational needs without despoiling or endangering natural resources. <br /> • Ensure that alterations to existing land formations and vegetation, except <br /> crops, and construction of structure cause minimum adverse effect to <br /> water resources, and scenic and recreational amenities and minimum <br /> danger of floods, landslides, erosion, siltation, or failure in the event of an <br /> earthquake. <br /> Policies <br /> 10 <br />
