Salary Commission <br />January 17, 2024 <br />So, it would be, I presume—and maybe Director Sako can clarify—it would be the Mayor's <br />Administration with—or whomever controls the contract to ensure that the contractee, the person <br />that is fulfilling the contract is, in fact, completing the task required of the contract. <br />MS. NAKAMA: So, who sets the task and what goals and <br />MR. FARAHL There is no contract, right? <br />MS. FRENZ: There is a contract— <br />CHR. <br />ontract <br />CHR. PAVAO: There is a contract. <br />MS. FRENZ: because it's interim. <br />CHR. PAVAO: Until this body sets the salary, it's a contracted hire position. Once this body <br />sets the salary, then the Mayor appoints somebody, then it becomes (inaudible). <br />MR. FARAHL And that's a management employee served at the pleasure of the Mayor? <br />MS. FRENZ: That's correct. <br />CHR. PAVAO: Yes. <br />MR. FARAHL But, at this time, there's a contract. <br />CHR. PAVAO: It's a contract—so, sort of, a temporary solution. <br />MR. FARAHL So, the contract would disappear once the salary is set. <br />CHR. PAVAO: Once we set a salary. <br />MS. FRENZ: Yes. <br />MR. FARAHI: Is there a search that would follow? <br />MS. FRENZ: Yes. <br />MR. FARAHL (Inaudible) it's just like, from my perspective, we're just shooting in the dark. <br />It's a very ill-defined position and, if I could be impolite, and it's neither here nor there, it's like <br />shooting in the dark—shoot in the direction of noise. <br />MR. RIORDAN: Well, this is Commissioner Riordan, and I think that's what the Managing <br />Director has said. And I'd like to follow-up with her recommendations of that we just table this, <br />let the contract play out, they can come back to us at any time during the year and, if not, we'll <br />take it up again in January of 2025—and set the salary at that point in time because then we <br />Page 15 <br />
