APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE OCTOBER 27, 2023 MEETING – <br />Clyde Silva, Committee Chair motion to approve the minutes of the meeting. <br />Motion to move and approve the minutes with correction by Judy Bell, and <br />seconded by Julya Bridgewater. Unanimously approved. <br /> <br />5. COMMENTS FROM THE COMMITTEE CHAIR – Clyde Silva <br />None. <br /> <br />6. EXECUTIVE ON AGING REPORT AND UPDATES – Horace Farr <br />1) Thank the Committee for their time and willingness to serve. <br />The Executive on Aging thanked the Committee on Aging members for their <br />time and willingness to serving this past year. <br />2) The Executive on Aging reported on the following Equipment Purchased, <br />Future Funding Concerns, and 2024 Older Americans Month Luncheon: <br /> <br />a) Two Hot Shot vehicles <br />b) Two Kilns for the Ceramics Classes <br />c) A new Potter’s wheel for the Ceramics Classes <br />d) Continue to keep our funding secure <br />e) SAVE THE DATE – FRIDAY, MAY 10, 2024 OAM Luncheon – Hilton <br />Waikoloa Resort <br />7. POLICY ADVISORY BOARD OF ELDERLY AFFAIRS – Shelly Ogata <br />PABEA Report: <br />The caucus voted on their top five (5) priorities: <br />- Item #1. To Establish a Paid Family Medical Leave Program (HB No. 236). <br />- Item #2. Establishing A Caregiver’s Tax Credit (bill being drafted). <br />- Item #3. To Raise the Personal Needs Allowance for Medicaid Recipients <br /> Living in a Long Term-Care Facility (HB No. 916). Since 2007 the <br /> rate was $50.00 a month, and trying to increase the rate to $75.00. <br />- Item #4. To Fund the Healthy Aging Partnership Program - Fall Prevention and <br /> Chronic Disease Self-Management Program. <br />- Item #5. To Fund the Department of Health Kupuna Fall Prevention <br /> Campaign. <br /> <br />8. CORPORATION COUNSEL – Suzanna Tiapula <br />Suzanna explained the handout on the OIP “Quick Review: Who Board Members <br />Can Talk to and When (Part 3) (Revised December 2022)”. This Quick Review <br />discusses and exception to the open meeting requirement for “permitted <br /> <br /> <br />
