Commissioner Fergerstrom stated that the responsibility of this issue needs to <br />be placed with the personnel in that station. If Chief Oliveira were not <br />sending out the information, then the HFC would have an issue. <br />FEO Ignacio acknowledged that the administration does send out an email <br />and a hardcopy. <br />Commissioner Fergerstrom stated that it seems that the administration is <br />addressing this issue. <br />The HFC thanked FEO Mark Ignacio for coming forward with his presentation. <br /> Meeting Format ƒ changes and suggestions. <br />· <br />Kaycie Carter advised the HFC that the thank you letters forwarded from the <br />FireAdministrationwouldbemarkedasF.Y.Iandwouldnolongerbeplaced <br />on the agenda. These letters are intended for informational purposes and not <br />meant for any consideration. They will be distributed to the HFC and color <br />coded yellow to differentiate them from other written correspondence. <br />PUBLIC STATEMENTS <br />Mr. Ty Mederios introduced himself and stated that he would like to discuss the <br />investigation of public complaints. He was concerned that it conflicts with the <br />union€s bargaining agreements. <br />Commissioner Fergerstrom stated that when the HFC interviews and investigates <br />a complaint made against a firefighter, that individualŒs attendance is voluntarily. <br />Commissioner Ward stated that it is not an investigation. <br />Commissioner Fergerstrom stated that the HFC€s conclusions do not result in <br />disciplinary actions. The conclusion only results in a recommendation to the <br />Administration that the issue be investigated further. <br />Mr. Mederios stated that the recommendation to Chief Oliveira could lead to <br />disciplinary action. <br />Commissioner Fergerstrom stated that the disciplinary action does not come <br />fromtheHFC. <br />CommissionerMaedostatedthatthisissuearoselastmonthandeveryone <br />needs to be educated.
