Commissioner Fergerstrom stated that there would probably be an increase in <br />complaints in the future, because the public is slowly realizing that there is a <br />place to complain. <br />Ms. Noni Sanford asked if there could be a standard letter from the commission <br />for the firefighter to inform the Union if a complaint has been filed. <br />Commissioner Fergerstrom stated that the HFC will inform the individual about <br />the complaint, and the employee can decide whether to contact the union. <br />Commissioner Fergerstrom suggested that the Union should meet with their <br />attorneys and also get feedback from SHOPO regarding their procedures. <br />Commissioner Ward stated that the letter sent to the employee states, You are <br />notrequiredtoattendthismeetingormakeanystatement.However,theHawaiŒi <br />Fire Commission may make a decision on whether to refer this case to the Chief <br />for possible administration investigation based on the evidence and testimony <br />presented at this meeting.‚ It also states that if they are unable to attend this <br />meeting, they may submit a written statement.
