There was no opposition by Commissioners.
Nishimoto: Motion has been carried.
The motion was carried unanimously.
VII. Unfinished Business (10:21 AM)
Nishimoto: There is no Unfinished Business.
VIII. New Business (10:21 AM)
1. DJL Holualoa LLC, dba Holualoa Farm Kitchen, approval of Application
for an Increase in Licensed Premises, to add approximately 2,354 square
(10:21 AM) feet to its current licensed premises, which includes a coffee shop and
concrete patio that are adjacent to its licensed premises; of its Restaurant
General liquor license, Category B1, located at 76-5900 Old Government
Road, Holualoa, Hawaii; TMK: 7-6-004-015.
Kelly Lawrence, Co-owner, and Mike Conboy, husband, were present.
Nishimoto: Hello, can you please state your name and relationship to the business?
Lawrence: I'm Kelly Lawrence, Partner.
Conboy: Mike Conboy, husband.
Nishimoto: Could you please describe the business.
Lawrence: We are a farm and kitchen, I put a hoop house in the backyard, we're trying
to grow a lot of our produce that we're using, we have for 16 years owned a coffee farm,
17 acres in Holualoa, we've acquired another 80 acres that we're currently trying to
plant, and I'm building another greenhouse to supply the kitchen. The problem with
what I'd like to do to expand right now is our kitchen is big, and if I can section it off for
increasing the liquor license, and then the coffee shop, where we can have take -away
food already prepared in the coffee shop, that will let me increase my hours, and not
have the whole property open at one time. Also, my goal is to serve the community with
lunch and dinner, we have brunch on Sunday, we have limited hours right now because
we're training staff, learned that kitchen staff, so we've recruited young people which we
have a great chef, and he's training. We'll be able to stay open longer because we'll
have pre -made food in the coffee shop, and I'll section off the other side that's large,
and have that for more formal dining in the evenings.
MINUTES - LIQUOR COMMISSION MEETING - THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 11 2024 - KONA PAGE 17 OF 37
