Fire Department was considering other options on how to offer relief to Kailua <br />Fire Station. <br />Chief Oliveira replied that the personnel are working to identify where the <br />volume of calls is originating. This will help to identify an optimum location. A <br />Fire Station in the vicinity of Kahaluu Beach Park is being considered. <br />Chair Maedo called for a 10-minute recess at 11:45 a.m. <br />Meeting resumed at 11:55 a.m. <br />Commissioner Bertsch made a motion to allow former <br />Commissioner Matsuda to discuss the status of the Salary Commissions <br />meeting. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Okabe and <br />unanimouslycarried. <br />FormerCommissionerMatsudastatedthatheandCommissionerBertsch <br />attended the Salary Commissions meeting. Two Police Commissioners and <br />the Police Chief attended in order to request an increase in the Police Chiefs <br />salary as well. It was expressed that both the Police and Fire Chiefs receive <br />an equitable pay raise. The Police Commission recommended a 12 percent <br />pay increase over the highest paid employee. Mr. Matsuda suggested a <br />salary in the sum of 110-120 thousand dollars. At the present time, there is <br />no timeline when the Salary Commission will respond to the Fire <br />Commissions request. <br />Commissioner Rosehill questioned whether retroactivity would be considered. <br />Commissioner Bertsch replied that it was mentioned. However, in his <br />personal opinion, he does not think that it would be granted. <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br /> Election of Officers for 2007 <br />· <br />Voting results: <br />Brazier as Chair Bowles, Okabe, Kudlo, Maedo, Browne, Brazier <br />Bertsch as Chair Bertsch <br />Commissioners Rosehill and Pomroy abstained from voting. <br />Commissioner Kudlo moved to nominate Commissioner Wil Okabe as <br />Vice-Chair. Commissioner Bertsch seconded the motion. <br />8 <br /> <br />
