New Projects/Business <br /> Explorer Program: Continues to move forward. Eleven candidates will <br />participate in the program which is currently scheduled to begin on <br />October 13, 2007. <br />Volunteer Section <br /> Volunteer Training Section status/update report by Captain Clyde <br />Komatsu and Volunteer Firefighter Noni Sanford. <br /> West Hawai'i <br /> Volunteer Stations are in Milolii, Kona Paradise, Kalaoa, Kona Village, <br />Four Seasons, North Kohala, Waikii, Puuanahulu, Laupahoehoe and <br />Paauilo. Anticipating an additional station to be headed by Bill Morris <br />in Waikoloa. <br /> There are currently 103 volunteers. <br /> Implementing the Fire Essential training into the Volunteer program. <br /> Milolii water pump back in service. <br /> East Hawai'i <br /> Volunteer Stations are in Pepeekeo, Hawaiian Acres, Fern Forest, <br />Fern Acres, Hawaiian Beaches, Waa Waa, Naalehu, Discovery <br />Harbor, Pahala, Paradise Park, Volcano, and Kaumana City Estates. <br /> There are currently 120 volunteers. <br /> Distributed 100 feet of one inch hose, rescue breathers and hot shields to <br />each company. Assistant Chief Mento was instrumental in providing the <br />equipment to the volunteers. <br /> Ainaloa and Kaohe Homesteads have expressed interest in starting a <br />volunteer company. Information packets were distributed to the <br />community leaders. <br /> 10 pagers were distributed through discretionary funds from <br />Councilmember Emily Naeole to Paradise Park volunteers. <br /> Noni Sanford briefed the Fire Commission on a conference she attended <br />in Alaska. <br /> Puuanahulu Blessing & Open House: Saturday, October 27, 2007, at <br />10:00 a.m. Volunteer Fire Chief’s meeting will follow. <br /> Commissioners were reminded that they should not report complaints <br />directly to the Volunteer Firefighters. Violations should be forwarded to <br />the Fire Administration Office. <br />Employee/Public Relations <br /> Fire Prevention Week: Scheduled for Saturday, October 13, 2007, from <br />9:00 a.m. to 1:00 at Hilo Bayfront. <br /> Open forums are being conducted with personnel to encourage <br />participation. <br />9 <br /> <br />
