Captain Cook, Hi
8083450968
Urgent Plea for Consideration: The Lifeline of Short-Term Rentals
Chairman Dennis Lin
Windward Planning Commission
County of Hawaii
25 Aupuni St.
Unit 1502
Hilo, HI 96720
Aloha Chairman Lin,
I am writing to you today as a resident deeply concerned about the implications of Hawaii
Bill 121 on my livelihood and the well-being of my 'ohana. My short-term rental is notjust a
business; it is my only source of income, providing for my family and contributing to our
local economy.
I am a senior citizen. My short term rental is my only source of income. I will not do a long
term rental here because I will not have any rights to remove someone if they are not paying
their rent or ruin my home. Please do not destroy the many lives of people who have been
paying their taxes to this government for their short term rentals. We are cooperating as we
should, we have done nothing wrong. Please allow us to continue as we have for many years.
Now we are elder citizens and have no other income. Please reconsider as if it was your
mother or grandmother accommodating short term rentals for our Ohana or tourists looking
for a quiet place to stay.
A sincere thank you,
Jill
P.S. I just found out my girlfriend/neighbor rented "long term" to
a woman who has not paid her rent for over a year, who is now
suing my girlfriend for $175,000.00 for not fixing something! Yet
won't leave and is ruining her ohana. ..
You are putting everyone at risk of this by forcing long term
rentals.
