F— W..Ad=
To: LFC[esOmonv
Subject: Opp—n toll 121
Date: MOMay,Apnl 15,20291:30:01 PM
Chairperson Barbara Defianco
Leeward Planning Commission
County of Hawaii
25 Aupum St.
Unit 1502
Hilo,HI 96720
Aloha Chairperson Lin&Commission Members,
I am writing to you today as a single mom who has invested all of my resources into a vacation rental property in Hawaii. This property is
not just a business to me;it is my retirement plan,my child's education fund, and our medical fund. The proposed changes under Bill 121
threaten to upend the delicate balance I have worked so hard to achieve for my family's future.
I understand the concerns that have been raised regarding vacation rentals, but I urge the commission to consider the impact of these
regulations on families like mine. The requirement for owners to navigate complex registration processes, invasive requirements, and
potential loss of income due to restrictive measures could be devastating.
I respectfully request that the Planning Commission consider the following recommendations to ensure that regulations are fair and do not
disproportionately affect small property owners:
Streamline the registration process and eliminate invasive requirements that place undue burden on property owners.
Remove restrictions about where hosts live and where guests stay,as long as the owner is in the same building,on the same parcel,or on an
adjacent parcel.
Conduct an economic impact study to fully understand the implications of Bill 121 on families and the local economy.
These measures would help protect the interests of small property owners like myself, who rely on vacation rentals as a significant source of
income and financial security.
I am committed to operating my vacation rental responsibly and in harmony with the community.I believe that with thoughtful regulation
and consideration for the diverse needs of property owners,we can find a balance that b-efits everyone.
Mabalo for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Audrey Wong
Kailua Kona
Clear chat
