BIG ISLAND TROPICAL <br />LANDSCAPES <br />March 14, 2023 <br />Leeward Planning Commission <br />Hawaii County Planning Department <br />101 Aupuni St, Suite 3 <br />Hilo, HI 96720 <br />RE: Ka'upulehu Land LLC- Subdivision of Lot 11-A, Pu'ukapu Hometeads 1st Series <br />Kamulela, District of South Kohala TMK: (3) 6-4-024:027 <br />To Whom It May Concern: <br />I am writing to voice my support for Ka'upulehu Land LLC's proposed subdivision of <br />their 5+ acre property at Pu'ukapu Homesteads in Waimea. I have known John Metzler, <br />the owner of this property, for many years, and I am familiar with the quality projects he <br />has built over his 50+ years of doing business here. With that as a guide, I can safely <br />say that this subdivision will be well planned, beautifully designed, completed on time, <br />and will have the best interests of the community as its ultimate purpose. <br />Our young people are currently faced with a serious shortage of housing options, and <br />most would like to have the ability to contribute to the community by providing <br />agricultural products at the many wholesale and retail outlets in the area. <br />This suggests that rather than pasture land, which seems to be the default usage <br />currently, this project has been designed to be affordable enough for our young families, <br />while offering enough space for a range of intensive agricultural activities.
