activities, such as converting agricultural land into commercial and small residential lots, that will create an
even bigger traffic issue for this small town of Waimea.
There was an auto accident the other day near Anekona Subdivision on the dry-side of Waimea, the traffic was
stalled for many hours and this is not safe for any ambulance trying to get to the hospital in the town of
Waimea, lately we have been hearing a constant roar of ambulences. What is going to happen when these
small and huge developments are allowed to build endlessly, change the zoning and make this Island a very
dangerous place to drive. The auto insurance rates are astronomically high on this island due to the unusual
amount of accidents that happen here, do we want to make this problem worse with additional traffic created
by more development of this island?
The local residents cannot afford to absord the exorbitant land and residential prices that have been continually
inflating at a rapid pace. Additionally the property taxes have been on a rampant rise, making the cost of living
even more unafforable for the average person. How can this benefit the Island people?
I am asking the planning committee to reject these applications.
Sincerely,
Kurt and LaDonna Shively
2
