From: Nancy Hall
To: LPCtestimony
Subject: SAY NO to rezoning attempt by Metzler
Date: Monday,July 15,2024 8:23:43 AM
Aloha
As a resident of Waimea I am asking the Leeward Planning Commission to NOT approve
Kaupulehu Land LLC's application to rezone an Agricultural 5 acre to Neighborhood
Commercial and Residential for the following reasons:
- This proposed development is inconsistent with the 2005 Hawai'i County General Plan as the
project FAILS TO PROTECT significant agricultural lands by rezoning them
- FAILS TO PROTECT the rural ranching character of Waimea
- Project is an excessive, huge commercial project and will severely impact traffic, increase
property taxes in Waimea which is already very expensive for the average income local
resident to live. This town does not need more gentrification.
- This project is also NOT CONSISTENT with the South Kohala CDP of 1008 as it FAILS
TO MEET GUIDELINES by removing prime agricultural lands and pushing ugly commercial
development further east of Waimea town.
Please DO NOT approve this application. Be responsible for adhering to the General Plans
and curtailing overdevelopment and keeping the rural character of Waimea.
Mahalo,
Nancy Cross-Hall
