• The California Wellness Foundation:Multiple Planning and Evaluation Projects <br /> Kym oversaw the comprehensive evaluation of Cal Wellness'Responsive Grantmaking Program,while at Harder+Company. <br /> Extensive data collection included an online grantee survey and case studies to assess the impact of Cal Wellness'grants. <br /> The findings were highlighted in the Foundation's Reflections series (2009), and were used to refine the Foundation's <br /> Responsive Grantmaking program. Kym also led the evaluation of core operating support grants during the recession <br /> using a mixed-method approach, and produced the report"Mission Focused Funding:Supporting Nonprofit Sustainability <br /> in the Tumult of a Recession"(2012).Kym also developed Cal Wellness'comprehensive evaluation planning process to align <br /> the Foundation's evaluation and learning efforts with the new grants program and strategic plan, Advancing Wellness <br /> (2016). The Advancing Wellness grants program promotes health equity by focusing on the people and communities that <br /> are the most under resourced and underserved throughout the state of California. Working closely with foundation staff, <br /> Kym developed an adaptive evaluation approach, identified meaningful outcomes for a range of strategies,and developed <br /> extensive recommendations for the evaluation system to ensure the evaluation is operationalized effectively. <br /> • San Jose COVID-19 Recovery Task Force(City of San Jose) <br /> Kym worked with the City of San Jose to develop a strategy to engage residents, community members, and businesses <br /> on matters of COVID-19 economic and social recovery, to engage those most impacted by the pandemic. This included <br /> facilitation of monthly Recovery Task Force meetings and subsequent working groups/committees that concluded with final <br /> recommendations from the Task Force to the City Council. <br /> • Santa Clara County,Office of the County Executive Transportation Needs Assessment(County of Santa Clara) <br /> Led with Nelson/Nygaard to conduct the Santa Clara County Transportation Needs Assessment that focused on six key <br /> populations. Kym led the community engagement efforts for the 6 key populations for the assessment, which included <br /> young people in foster care, people receiving health and/or social services, and people being released from the County's <br /> jail. Through the engagement, the team collected and analyzed 734 surveys, 7 focus groups,and 12 stakeholder interviews <br /> that resulted in overall findings and population-specific findings <br /> • South San Francisco Commission on Racial and Social Equity(City of South San Francisco) <br /> Led the process to identify goals and strategies to reduce racial and other social inequities in South San Francisco in the <br /> areas of health, education,policing,housing, economic development,and social services. Kym planned and facilitated over <br /> 12 Commission meetings and led the development of a comprehensive South San Francisco Commission on Racial and <br /> Social Equity Report as well as a Racial and Social Equity Action Plan that outlined a roadmap for implementation during <br /> the first year.All strategies have corresponding actions, leads, timeframe, and outcomes to track effectiveness and ensure <br /> accountability. <br /> • Evaluation of the MHSA Innovation Project Evaluation(Marin County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services) <br /> Serving as the project director. This project is aligned with the school strategy of Marin County's Suicide Prevention <br /> Strategic Plan and community recommendations around expanding peer supports to break down stigma and increase <br /> mental health resources on school campuses. Since 2022, we have been working closely with BHRS and MCOE staff to <br /> develop an evaluation framework(that includes relevant MHSA requirements, learning questions,primary and sec- <br /> ondary data sources) and student wellness ambassador baseline and year-end survey to capture the experience,skill, <br /> leadership development, and demographics of SWAs. We will be preparing a summary of evaluation findings for the <br /> 2022/23 school year with limited data as the project is still in its initial launching phase. <br /> • REACH Ashland Youth Center Evaluation(County of Alameda) <br /> Since 2016, Kym has been leading the annual evaluation of REACH programming, its impact on disenfranchised and <br /> vulnerable youth, and the cross-disciplinary REACH partnership. Key highlights of evaluation have included: analyzing <br /> individual-level attendance, participation, and COST referral data, revising the Results/Evaluation Framework, revising <br /> and analyzing the annual REACH Member Survey, conducting interviews and focus groups with youth, staff, and family <br /> members, and preparing final evaluation reports and presentations. <br /> • San Francisco Safe Routes to School Evaluation(San Francisco Municipal Transportation Authority) <br /> Serving as project director for the multi-year evaluation. Oversaw the development of the 2019-2020, 2020-2021, and <br /> 2021-2022 SRTS evaluation reports, including overseeing data analyses, graphic design, and the development of the <br /> evaluation story for each year. <br /> • Calistoga Community Schools Initiative Evaluation(UpValley Family Centers) <br /> Kym serves as project director. Calistoga Community Schools Initiative (CCSI) is a collective impact effort that brings <br /> together partners and resources in key areas affecting education, health and wellness. This public-private partnership <br /> includes the school district, local government, and nonprofits.
