From:Lynda Moody
To:WPCtestimony
Subject:Re: Support for Special Permit No. SPP-2024-000071 – Lamb of God Baptist Church
Date:Saturday, August 31, 2024 8:40:30 PM
Dear Members of the Windward Planning Commission,
I am writing to you today as a proud member of the Lamb of God Baptist Church and a
long-time resident of the Ocean View community. My family and I have been part of this
congregation for many years, and we have experienced the deep sense of fellowship and
spiritual growth that this church fosters. I am writing to strongly support the approval of
Special Permit No. SPP-2024-000071, which will allow us to build a dedicated church
facility in Ocean View.
Currently, our church holds services at the Ocean View Community Center, a space that,
while appreciated, is not able to fully meet our needs as a growing congregation. Each week,
we face the challenges of setting up and breaking down our worship space, working within
the limitations of a facility that was not designed for religious services. This situation has
made it difficult to establish the kind of stable, welcoming environment that is so essential
for meaningful worship and spiritual connection.
The new facility that we are proposing will be a place of worship specifically designed to
meet the needs of our Baptist congregation. It will allow us to hold regular Sunday services,
Bible studies, youth programs, and community outreach activities in a setting that is
consistent, comfortable, and conducive to spiritual growth. This dedicated space will enable
us to better serve our members and the broader community, providing a stable and
permanent home for our faith-based activities.
Moreover, the design of the new facility has been thoughtfully planned to ensure that it
integrates smoothly with the surrounding area. We have no intention of using outdoor
amplified sound systems that could disturb our neighbors, and all noise generated from our
services will be contained within the building, in full compliance with Hawai'i
Administrative Rules (HAR) Title 11, Chapter 46. We are committed to being respectful and
responsible members of the Ocean View community.
Approving this special permit will have a profound impact on our church and our ability to
fulfill our mission. It will allow us to create a spiritual home where people of all ages can
come together to worship, learn, and find comfort in their faith. I humbly ask for your
support in approving Special Permit No. SPP-2024-000071 so that we may continue to serve
our community in a more effective and meaningful way.
Thank you for your consideration and your dedication to the well-being of our community.
Sincerely,
Lynda Moody
480-414-8909
PO BOX 6432
Ocean View, Hi 96737
