r <br />t <br />a <br />a <br />I <br />Criteria 2: Assesses whether the land or property entitlements coheres to and <br />furthers the vision and goals of Hawaii County's 2005 General Plan. <br />0 1 1 Total (15) — Criteria 2 % <br />0 (rev. 8/14/06) Page 3 of 4 <br />12.2 Recreation - GOALS <br />(a) Provide a wide variety of recreational opportunities for the residents and visitors <br />of the County. <br />(b) Maintain the natural beauty of recreation areas. <br />(c) Provide a diversity of environments for active and passive pursuits. <br />6.2 Historic Sites - GOALS <br />(a) Protect, restore, and enhance the sites, buildings, and objects of significant historical <br />and cultural importance to Hawaii. <br />(b) Appropriate access to significant historic sites, buildings, and objects of public <br />interest should be made available. <br />8.2 Natural Resources & Shoreline - GOALS <br />(a) Protect and conserve the natural'resources from undue exploitation, encroachment <br />and damage. <br />(c) Protect and promote the prudent use of Hawaii's unique, fragile, and significant <br />environmental and natural resources. <br />(d) Protect rare or endangered species and habitats native to Hawaii. <br />(e) Protect and effectively manage Hawaii's open space, watersheds, shoreline, and <br />natural areas. <br />7.2 Natural Beauty - GOALS <br />(a) Protect, preserve and enhance the quality of areas endowed with natural beauty, <br />including the quality of coastal scenic resources. <br />(b) Protect scenic vistas and view planes from becoming obstructed. <br />(c) Maximize opportunities for present and future generations to appreciate and enjoy <br />natural and scenic beauty. <br />14.2.2 Land Use (Agriculture) - GOALS <br />(a) Identify, protect and maintain important agriculture lands on the island of Hawaii. <br />(ti) Preserve the agricultural character of the island. <br />4.2 Environmental Quality - GOALS <br />(a) Define the most desirable use of land within the County that achieves an ecological <br />balance providing residents and visitors the quality of life and an environment in which <br />the natural resources of the island are viable and sustainable. <br />(b) Maintain and, if feasible, improve the existing environmental quality of the island. <br />0 1 1 Total (15) — Criteria 2 % <br />0 (rev. 8/14/06) Page 3 of 4 <br />
