CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order at 9:03 am. <br /> District 1 - Robert Duerr, Present, in person <br /> District 2 -Taysen Wong Chong, Present, in person <br /> District 3 - Rhon Leomana Turalde, Present, in person <br /> District 4 – Brian Ley –Present, in person <br /> District 5 - Vacant <br /> District 6 – Vacant <br /> District 7 – Natalie Reynolds – Excused <br /> District 8 – Cortney Okumura – Present, Zoom <br /> District 9 - Justin Ackerman, Present, Zoom <br /> <br />Quorum Established (Total of 6) <br /> <br />STAFF: Inha Kandatsu Kang Attorney, Corporation Counsel, in person. <br /> Barbara Kossow, Administrative Specialist, Mayors Kona Office, via Zoom. <br /> <br />2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: August 20, 2024 <br /> <br />Action: Motion made by R. Duerr to approve August 20, 2024 minutes as circulated. Seconded by <br />L. Turalde. Motion carried unanimously by poll voice vote. <br />LT: Aloha, mai kakou. Thank you for joining us – this is her (Attorney Inha Kandatsu- Kang) <br />third official meeting. Some housekeeping rules – please make sure your cell phones are <br />turned off or are on silent – to all of us attending in person please remember to speak <br />into the microphone so we can hear you. Under HRS 92-3 Sunshine Law – GMAC may <br />remove any person who willfully disrupts this meeting and all persons appearing in front <br />of GMAC are reminded to conduct themselves in a courteous manner. Questions from <br />the public – for those on Zoom you may pose a question in the Chat – for those in <br />person you may write your question on one of the statement papers we have over here <br />– that way the Commission can keep a record. For those in person – just remember your <br />questions may be asked, may not be answered. OK. And I guess that’s the beginning of <br />our meeting. So today is a very <br />short meeting – OK, before we add anything to the agenda, I’d just like to ask our new <br />District – 2 Commissioner (Taysen Wong Chong) to give us a little background, <br />inspirations and why you’re here and what’s your long-term goals.
