Gina Hara Chun
Manono Street Marketplace
681 Manono Street
Hilo, Hawaii 96720
November 27, 2024
Windward Planning Commission
c/o Planning Department
County of Hawaii
101 Pauahi Street, Suite 3
Hilo, Hawaii 96720
Subject: Change of Zone Amendment Application; No. PL-REZ-2024-000065
Applicant: Big Island Candies, Inc.
Dear Commission Members:
I am writing this letter in support of the application by Big Island Candies, Inc.to have an extension of
time to develop its property and a related request to extend the time to develop road and sidewalk
improvements when it develops the property.
As a business owner in the area, I understand how much the economy plays a role in the success of a
business and how it can affect plans for expansion. BIC has been able to continue its current level of
operations during the various downturns in visitors associated with lava flows, recessions, inflation and
the recent pandemic. The traffic related to BIC's operations have remained safe and more traffic
improvements are not needed at this time.
Please allow Big Island Candies, Inc. the extension of time to expand its operations and install road
improvements as the need arises and economic circumstances permit.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Gina Hara Chun
Manono Street Marketplace
