"homeless" will have been successfully addressed.
2) Is it going to be multiple buildings or just one large building? As
noted in conceptual plans, it will essentially be one structure.
3) Will there be an entrance off Ali'i Drive or will Kahakai become a
bottleneck of vehicles trying to enter and exit the hotel from Kahakai?
We enjoy the nice peaceful walk to dining and shopping that Kahakai
currently offers. Vehicular access will be via Kahakai Road, with drop
offs at Ali'i Drive. While there will be additional traffic in this area,
visitor traffic movements tend to be over a period of time instead of at
concentrated periods (like a residential project with concentrated AM
and PM peaks.) Further, the project will be constructing a sidewalk
fronting the project which will make pedestrian movements in this area
much safer.
4) How will this hotel impact that by potentially hundreds of more cars
driving through there? The road is barely big enough for one lane. Are
they going to increase the size of the road to accommodate the huge
increase in traffic? As noted earlier, the project will construct sidewalks,
and because of the relatively narrow width of the existing right of way,
portions of the sidewalk will be placed within the project site.
5) Will this hotel have on site parking for all the guests, staff and
delivery vehicles that will be going in and out of the hotel 24 hours a day
so they do not block Kahakai road? As it is, if you have driven on
Kahakai there are vehicles parked all over the place taking up space on
the street, will there no longer be parking available on Kahakai when the
hotel is built? The required parking per the County Zoning Code for
this proposed 100-room hotel is 117 parking stalls. As proposed,
however, there will be 143 stalls, inclusive of four handicapped and
two (2) equipped with electrical chargers within the structure and
hotel site. Access to the parking garage will be from the south side
of Kahakai Road. Further, in conjunction with the sidewalk
improvements along Kahakai Road, there will be additional parking
spaces for the general public along that Road.
I appreciate any information/clarification you can provide for this new
hotel.
Cindy Inman Kona Reef Condominium Owner.
