From:janice glennie
To:LPCtestimony
Subject:Oppose ITEM #4
Date:Monday, September 16, 2024 11:26:59 AM
Oppose Item #4
Aloha planning commissioners,
As you know, the public is strongly opposed to allowing the telecommunications industry to
decide what’s best for residents and our island. The reasons seem to be laden with enough
proof and questions about 5G technology to cause all of us (and especially you) to pause in
considering that technology and this bill.
Council member Evans has submitted an ordinance Bill 194 to create a sensible balance when
it comes to 5G. Her bill deserves your support.
Please make way for Bill 1194’s passage by denying Item #4. It’s your kuleana to stop a
rushed approval process at the behest of Telecom and to protect stakeholders from having too
much power in the hands of an unelected, often insufficiently tech-savvy government body
(aka planning department) and from them making bottom line, critical decisions that will
affect the public and environmental health.
Mahalo for voting against Item #4 and supporting Bill 194 when it’s heard at council.
Sincerely,
Janice Palma-glennie
Kailua-kona
