APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF THE JULY 31, 2024 MEETING – Clyde <br />Silva, Committee Chair. Committee approved the minutes <br /> <br />5. COMMENTS FROM THE COMMITTEE CHAIR – Clyde Silva <br />Attended the ILWU Pensioner’s Conference in Honolulu discussed in relation to <br />the Maui fires and how it impacted the elderly. Reminded the committee to let <br />people know the Medicare open enrollment. There are some changes to the plans <br />being discarded. <br /> <br />6. EXECUTIVE ON AGING REPORT AND UPDATES – Horace Farr <br />a) Current number of vacant position(s) – Administrative Services Assistant I – <br />vacant. Data Analyst position filled. <br />b) County Fiscal Year 2026 budget preparation. Submitted final reports. The <br />th <br />budget kick-off was the 18 of September. Every department is a part of <br />finance. <br />c) State and Federal Fiscal and Programmatic Compliance Reports due: <br />- State - July 01, 2023 to June 3, 2024. <br />- Federal - October 23, 2024 to September 30, 2024. <br /> <br />7. POLICY ADVISORY BOARD OF ELDERLY AFFAIRS (PABEA) – Shelly <br />Ogata <br />a) State PABEA Legislative Committee suggested priorities for 2025 Legislative <br />Session: <br />a) Falls Prevention <br />b) Hawaii Saves <br />c) Caregiver Tax Credit <br />d) Paid Family Leave <br />e) Condominium Disaster Preparedness <br />f) Unemployment Benefits for Caregivers <br />g) Any Additional Bills that may be presented on October 4, 2024 meeting <br /> <br />b) State PABEA 2025, Older Americans Month Awards Celebration location has <br />been set at 15 Craigside Place, Honolulu, HI on June 13, 2025. <br /> <br />c) Presentation from Office of Healthcare Assurance (OHCA) re: unlicensed care <br />homes - Ombudsman and Adult Protective Services. <br /> <br />8. ANNOUNCEMENTS – Clyde Silva, Committee Chair <br />Judy Bell announced tomorrow Kona Hospital “Empowering Resource for <br />Caregivers”. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
