From: Sophia"s Mom <br /> To: LPCtestimonv;WPCtestimonv <br /> Subject: Please consider my testimony on The Hawai"i General Plan <br /> Date: Friday, November 22,2024 12:02:42 PM <br /> Aloha Honorable Planning Commissioners of Hawai'i County <br /> & Director Kern, <br /> Regarding the General Plan and cultural resources you <br /> focused on today, many cannot be obtained as objectives with <br /> collaboration and partnerships. They must have a foundation <br /> of trust and commitments of financial support which will not <br /> happen unless we manage our citizens money by disclosing <br /> audited, financial reports to the citizens, whose money the <br /> administration of this county is responsible for. This is the <br /> adoption of a measure that will incentivize the participation of <br /> the most important resource, being the people of Hawaii nei, <br /> including our neglected indigenous Hawaiian people! <br /> With mandatory disclosure, including all income, all paid <br /> employees, names of contractors and amounts paid for <br /> services, work, any consulting costs for the County; including <br /> all capital projects and utilities; i.e., our cost of solid waste <br /> services, we will not be aware nor be able to evaluate how <br /> effective the General Plan can be. When this is mandated and <br /> we then mandate money for the restoration, preservation and <br /> maintenance of sacred places and educational opportunities to <br /> learn about our Hawaiian culture and its significance, this will <br /> be the usual rhetoric with no implementation. I agree the <br /> today's presentation was impressive but I didn't see any <br /> Hawaiian people involved. So even regarding this <br /> presentation, your objective is not being met in my opinion. <br /> Regarding the General Plan and cultural resources, you know <br /> these cannot be obtained as objectives with collaboration and <br />
