GMAC Vacant Commissioner 5. Ley Brian Commissioner 4. 5 of 3 Page 4202 Quarter 4th DRAFT Quarterly 2024

– at the intersection – for myself, I’ve counted maybe four in the last week – ran over
– road kill.
12/17. The biggest concern in District - 3, is these wild chickens out of, I guess, you know,
they’re egg laying chickens not the fighting chickens kind...people are dropping off
just groups of roosters – Rhode Island Reds. The rainy season brings out all the pigs
and down in Keaukaha where the Nene live – the pigs are out on top of the road
across Four Miles and same as always with the sewer plant polluting the ocean.
11/19. Ah, one positive thing Ian Cole when Abraham talked the last meeting the lower
Puna lands between HPP and Hawaiian Beaches – they were looking at the DLNR is
making it a potential special hunting unit. Anti-gun politicians we’re gonna keep
having a pig problem in HPP and Puna. launch ramp, we were supposed to get started
on that – the elections are over and Pohoiki Launch Ramp is disappeared again into
the ethers which I’m sure will come back. And the birds on Mauna Kea this year is
just horrible \[unclear\] something from the DLNR – why I would see more birds in
June and all the water is being broken and now when the hunting season’s open that
– there are no birds anywhere. The best day we’ve had is we’ve seen sixteen birds and
that’s counting birds running around Parker Ranch...a dismal year. Up on Mauna Kea,
and, the places that I have seen birds I’m also seeing sheep so, there is a little
correlation on there where we have the sheep keeping the grass down –more bird
activity where I see sheep activity so, that’s something to be qualified. God knows
how much money they spent on the new rat traps – I’ve yet to see a dead rat under
one of the new CO2 things but pigs and other things will predate on them. They’ve
gone up there and mowed down a bunch of mamani trees and stuff and – I got the
impression this year they cleaned up after themselves – they didn’t chop it all up and
leave it on the side of R1 when they have been doing for fire hazards – so they are
cleaning that out.
12/17. Pohoiki dredging they’re still waiting on permits but hopefully they’re gonna start in
February, but there was and also an online petition to save the hot ponds Just give
everybody a heads up – there’s a slew of anti-gun bills – the most ridiculous one being
background checks on certain types of 3-D printers. I spoke at the Na Ala Hele Trail
thing last week about the land between HPP and Hawaiian Beaches, if it is turned in
to a public hunting land that Na Ala Hele put in appropriate parking places for ATVs
so we can access the land properly to do a good number on keeping the pig
populations down...adequate parking because I know that’s an issue with a lot of the
hunters is access to the areas and being able to get in and get out.
