Additionally, Human Resources Specialist II Jean Viernes passed <br />Recess was called at 10:46a.m., the meeting reconvened at 10:59a.m. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />El <br />Rule 5(a)(1). <br />Chair Kosaki opened the floor for nominations and asked if anyone wished to make a <br />nomination. Commissioner Perrin nominated Commissioner Hirakami for chair, while <br />Kosaki nominated Commissioner Wolf. Commissioner Mattos nominated Kosaki. No <br />further nominations were made. Chair Kosaki asked if everyone accepted their <br />nominations—Hirakami accepted, Wolf declined, and Kosaki accepted. <br />Commissioner Luke motioned to close nominations for chair, which was seconded by <br />Vice Chair Wolf. With no discussion, the motion carried unanimously. <br />Ms. Correacalled for a roll call vote: <br />o For Hirakami as Chair: yeas fromCommissionersLuke, Perrin, Porter, and <br />Hirakami. NaysfromCommissioners Wolf, Cushine, Mattos, and Kosaki. The <br />motion failed. <br />o For Kosaki as Chair: yeasfromCommissionersWolf, Cushine, Mattos, and <br />Kosaki. Nays fromLuke, Perrin, Porter, and Hirakami.The motion failed. <br />The votes resulted in a 4-4 deadlock. Chair Kosaki noted that they are missing one <br />member, Commissioner Magsalin, and stated that the matter will be deferred to the next <br />meeting. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Training on parliamentary procedure, ethics, Sunshine Law, and Fire Commission Rules <br />andthe review of meeting guidelines for effective and productive discussions. <br />DCC Salas-Ferguson explained that he wasn’t able to complete everything on time but <br />will aim to have it ready for the next meeting. He believes it will work out better, as a <br />new commissioner may be present by then. The next meeting is scheduled for Kona, <br />and he and DCC Wong plan to attend to conduct it. He also requested that the agenda <br />item "Review of Meeting Guidelines for Effective and Productive Discussions" be <br />deferred, as it was requested by Commissioner Magsalin, who is not present today. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Discussion regarding the process and guidelines for Fire Commissioners visiting <br />stations. <br /> <br />
