Veterans Advisory Committee <br />Page 3 <br />September 23, 2004 <br />Graveliners — Veterans Cemetery III — West Hawaii <br />Mr. Ito's report stated that the design for graveliners is proceeding. Complete package <br />including specs and plans should be ready for review and approved by VA within the <br />next 30 days. <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />VETERANS CEMETERY III — WEST HAWAII <br />Landscaping Improvement Project <br />Minoru Hanato said that Richard Highley was still on the Mainland and shared the latest <br />report from Mr. Les Chess of the Golf Course Superintendent's Association, volunteer <br />coordinator for landscaping improvement project. He reported that the GPS reading was <br />just obtained yesterday and work to remove the headstones is planned for this coming <br />Wednesday. Still hopeful that project will be completed by November I Itn <br />Mr. Hanato reported that the County's backhoe will be needed in approximately two <br />weeks. They will coordinate use with the West Hawaii Parks Maintenance staff. <br />VETERANS DAY PARADE <br />Dale Wilson shared that there was nothing new to add, still researching insurance costs. <br />He also said that Pat Engelhard was going to include in the P &R budget funds for police <br />and emergency medical support for the parade. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery III <br />Chairman Kaoiwi received grave measurements regarding headstones and turned form <br />over to Deputy Director Mizuno. <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS <br />KILAUEA MILITARY CAMP <br />Chairman Kaoiwi shared information regarding the operations of the KMC Cafe and the <br />POW /MIA Recognition Day which was held on September 14th and the Rotary Blood <br />Drive held on Monday, September 20th <br />100th Infantry Battalion — Memorial Service <br />Committee received an invitation from the 100th Infantry Battalion — Veterans <br />Association — Hawai`i Chapter — to attend the Memorial Service commemorating the <br />6151 anniversary of the first day of combat of the 100th Infantry Battalion in Italy on <br />Sunday, September 26, 2004 at 10:00 am at Veterans Cemetery I. <br />
