Merit Appeals Board November 26, 2024 <br />CHR. CABANAS: Oh, yes, that's correct. Thank you for noting that. <br />MR. WISEMAN: So, I think I should abstain. <br />CHR. CABANAS: Okay, you're abstaining. Okay. Because, just for the record, Mr. Wiseman <br />has submitted a letter to Mayor Roth resigning from the Merit Appeals Board, effective <br />December 31, 2024. Okay, so Ms. Bond, you voted —Ms. Mathews. <br />MS. MATHEWS: Aye. <br />CHR. CABANAS: Mr. Kunz. <br />MR. KUNZ: Abstain. <br />CHR. CABANAS: And —okay, Mr. Kunz is abstaining. Today is his last meeting on the Merit <br />Appeals Board, for the record. And my vote is "aye." So, we have three ayes, two abstaining <br />motion carried to schedule the appeal hearing for Mr. Jonah Kaye on January 16'', 2025, at <br />9 a.m., here, in the Hilo Council Chambers. <br />And, at this time, I'd like to give you the deadlines. So, the first deadline for both parties is <br />December 12'', 2024. It's a Thursday. It's by 4:30 p.m. of December 12'h to submit your <br />documentsexhibits, witness list, motions, memorandums. And this deadline is 15-calendar <br />days prior to December 27 h, which is the next deadline. <br />December 27 h, 2024, Friday, is the deadline for both parties to respond to provide your <br />responsive pleadings by close of business, 4:30 p.m. And this deadline is 20-calendar days prior <br />to January 16, 2025. <br />The documents must be submitted to our Board's Secretary, who is Glynis Yamada, via email <br />and regular mail or hand -delivered, and to the opposing parry. The documents that you submit <br />must be 1-original and 8-copies for all submittals —and 1-copy to the opposing parry. <br />For the Appellant, you must number and tab your exhibits. So, Number 1, 2, 3, 4, et cetera. For <br />the Appellee, alphabetize and tab your exhibitsA, B, C, D, et cetera. <br />The Merit Appeals Board will send a certified letter to the parties notifying them —or all of <br />you notifying you of the date, time, location, and deadlines that I just read. <br />So, may I have a motion to —well, we already approved the hearing date and time, but to approve <br />the deadlines that have been established? <br />MR.
