Nishimoto: So, your seafood specialty shop I know where that is, so you're adding
liquor sales to that?
Ueda: Correct.
Nishimoto: So, you're going to have bottle sales?
Ueda: Yes, we felt that liquor beer, wine, and other alcoholic beverages would be a
complimentary item to some of our products, yes.
Okabe: I'm sure Commissioner Espejo would attest to that.
Espejo: I was going to add that I love the poke down there, especially the mixed one,
the one you get opihi, you get salmon, you get everything in there, it's like oh my God!
Ueda: Right on, thank you.
Espejo: Will alcohol be sold and consumed on premises?
Ueda: No.
Espejo: Or just for?
Ueda: Retail.
Takase: You folks have a relationship with the drive inn?
Ueda: Yes, it's a separate business, I don't believe they sell alcohol there either.
Takase: No, they don't. Would your customers be able to go over to use those tables?
Ueda: They ask our customers not to sit on those chairs, it's real limited seating and it's
just enough for his customers, so the idea is to not allow our customers to sit there.
Nishimoto: But you folks did have tables outside, one or two, yeah?
Ueda: We did in the past, when COVID (coronavirus disease) hit we took those away,
and I think now if anything we just have some benches outside for people who are
waiting. But, really we don't encourage too much eating on the premises.
Okabe: Any other questions?
Espejo: I'd like to buy oysters in the case, you don't have that in your
Ueda: Yeah, we haven't done that .
Espejo: In awhile?
MINUTES -LIQUOR COMMISSION MEETING - THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 2025 - KONA PAGE 23 OF 39
